Born Buckeye Welcome
|
Born Buckeye is a place for all the members of the Buckeye Nation to come together in an exclusive online community. Only those who are scarlet and gray at heart may pass. This is where you can come and rant, rave, chat, blog, network and meet Buckeye fans worldwide – this is our house.
Born Buckeye originally started in 2006 as a company that just sold t-shirts; however, this year I wanted to change it to be something that was more interactive. After all, discussing Ohio State sports is something that I love to do any and all the time – especially with other Buckeye fans. Other Buckeye forum sites seem to have alot of information on the actual sports teams, recruiting, etc but seemed to leave out something that I think separates Ohio State from other teams ….. the fans. The Buckeye Nation is everywhere in large numbers - we support and love our team with a passion second to none. Anywhere you go there are Buckeyes – I have seen someone in Florence, Italy with an OSU bag and said “O-H” and immediately received an “I-O” in return. I have been walking through airports in an AJ Hawk jersey and had people come up to me and say “Go Bucks”. I currently live two thousand miles away from The Shoe in San Diego and there is a bar called Moondoggies that you have to get up at 8 AM and stand in line to get a seat for Buckeye games because it is so packed. No matter the distance – we are there in force.
Being a Buckeye is something that impacts your life in so many ways. In my day job of internet marketing and lead generation, anytime I meet someone that is a Buckeye that person immediately gets moved up on my list. So many of my friendships old and new have one thing in common – the Buckeyes. Even my friends in Cali that aren’t Buckeye fans keep track of the team because they know how important they are to me. My wife is from LA and completely not into sports, but is now a converted Buckeye fan (as if there was any other choice in the matter). I speak with every member of my family weekly - the majority of those conversations revolve around last weeks game, next weeks game, or some other form of Buckeye sports discussion. The Buckeyes unify us as a family, even though I am so far away from them all and miss them, when I watch the Buckeyes I feel closer to them. Being a member of the Buckeye Nation is truly something special, it is part of my culture woven in with my life for as long as I have been alive. The Buckeyes are part of my identity and always will be - and I take a tremendous amount of pride in that.
I really wanted to have the site ready before football season but it took longer than expected to get up and operational. It was something I was developing in my spare time and weekends – as any Buckeye fan knows – the past twelve Saturdays there has been something more important that required my attention. However, with the help of two great friends – Mike and Ken – the site finally came to life a couple weeks ago. Now, it is up to us, the Buckeye Nation to make this the most interactive and awesome community online. So post some pics, blogs, get active in the forums, create some polls, network with friends and have some fun. Keep in mind, it is a work in progress, so if you find some bugs or want to make some suggestions on new features, please do so. After all – the Buckeye Nation is also a team, and teams that work together are more successful.
Thanks for joining – I hope you enjoy the site. Keep checking back as we will be doing some contests and promotions in the near future.
GO BUCKEYES!
