Even though the Buckeye Motherland has been getting slammed with the usual remnant snowfall along with double digit inches of rainfall that may seem to be holding Cbus in winter captivity – as a Buckeye fan it is difficult not to feel the sun on your face when it comes to our programs.  Even though the men’s hoops team did not get into the dance, and in some ways I feel they were better qualified than other bubble teams and got a couple really bad calls in the opening round of the Big Ten Tourney, but they are looking good in the NIT and Matta has them continuing to play hard.  Plus it increases the chances of hanging on to Koufus and Lighty for another season, and with the seven foot recruit B.J. Mullens coming in from Canal Winchester our team’s future looks very bright.   Additionally our Lady Bucks start their NCAA tournament this evening against FSU, coming in as a the sixth seed with a record of 22-8, they have overcome huge graduation losses of Davenport and Hoskins (more than 30 points), early injuries, academic ineligibility and scoring errors to get a share of their fourth consecutive Big Ten regular season championship.  Foster has taken a phenomenal 6-4 freshman, Jantel Lavender and paired her with the outside threat of reliable senior Marscilla Parker (41% 3-pointers / 88% free throw) to form a yin yang combination of success.  Complemented with junior transfer Ashlee Trebilock on the wing and sophomore point guard Shavelle Little, who was Big Ten Defensive POY.  Another boost is that we get previously ineligible junior forward Star Allen back for the tournament.    Not to mention that all of this may seem small next to the news we received earlier this week when Terrelle Pryor committed to tOSU.   Already drawing comparisons to Vince Young and Tim Tebow, he gives another weapon for Tressel to work into a team that returns basically all last year’s starters and with Beanie as a legitimate Heisman contender in the backfield.  Regardless of how soon or how much we incorporate Mr. Pryor into the offense the main point is we have depth everywhere.  It makes it even sweeter that he chose tOSU over that school up north.  Sorry Rich, get used to it, now go have fun with your lawsuit. Oh yeah – and spring ball starts on Monday.   So in the Buckeye Nation there is plenty of sunshine heading our way.   Go Bucks!
